Yesterday was rather stressful. I get a call around 10am about no files showing up on the Art storage server. I figure there's no problem, I have a mirror of it in case someone deletes all the files. So I check it out on the server console and sure enough no files are there. So I look at the mirror directory. No files are there either! This is when I had a heart attack. Once I calmed down I looked a little closer and realized that all partitions on that disk are unmounted. So I try and fail to mount them manually. There appears to be some filesystem corruption on that disk that kicks it offline. After doing some fs checks I get it back online and copy all the files to another server in case it dies again (which it does 3 more times that day). I have a feeling that this drive is just announcing its death which really sucks because it is less than 2 years old. Western_Digital--;

All sorts of stuff happend yesterday (mostly work related) so I'll get around to explaining later. We took Miles out to the pet store to get him some food and a bed. They had these little hats with ear holes, so I just had to put one on him. And no I didn't buy it.

Last night Jason, Rachelle and I watched a couple of movies: Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and Anchorman. HKGTWK was AWESOME!!! It was the funniest movie I've seen in a LONG time. If you haven't seen this one yet I highly recommend it. Anchorman was possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Not only did I waste the 1.5 hours watching it, but I wasted the time and bandwidth downloading. Don't bother with this one.

I just remembered...before Christmas I bought one of those cheapshit pedometers from Walmart because I was curious as to how far I actually walk during the day at work. Yesterday it read 6012 steps when I got home. That works out to be about 2.3 miles according to the meter. I figure my strides are probably a little longer than average so that might be slightly more in milage. Either way that surprised me because I probably spent 1/2 of the day in my office at my desk.

Well Miles has been doing very well at home by himself. By well I mean he isn't tearing the house down or crapping everywhere. I think he just sleeps on the doormat right in front of the door. If he were a little smarter he would realize that it's 15° colder by that door. Oh well. Last night Rachelle, Jason and I went to Subway for dinner ($3.99 footlong subs on Tuesdays) and Jason wanted to buy an Xbox. We went to BestBuy first but they were all sold out. I found a 16x DVD+/-RW dual layer drive for $80 with a $40 mail in rebate. Jackpot! So now I can burn DVDs I rent or download, err I mean make backups of the DVDs I already own, without having to copy all the data to my laptop. When we were at the mall looking for the Xbox I found used copies of Bedazzled and The Matrix Reloaded for $5 each. Jackpot again! Yeah so work today has been really annoying. All sorts of stuff has been breaking out of the blue for no reason. My webproxy server crashed last night so no one could access any web pages, a few printers died, a network connection to one of the buildings went down...and this is all before 10am.

Today is the first day that Miles is left home alone while we are both at work. I'll be going home during lunch to let him out and I bet he'll be going nuts when I get there. I can't wait to find all the places where he pooped and whizzed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (a little late) I ended up going home to NJ for Christmas while Rachelle (and Miles) went to Buffalo. I had a great time just sitting there doing nothing. I specifically planned my trips around the weather. I do this because I got caught in a blizzard once on RT81 and it was NOT fun. All the weather sites showed cold but clear the whole way. Guess what? In the same place on 81 (between Binghamton and Syracuse) the snow came down with a vengence. Oh well. New Years was fun. My buddy Dave came up from CT on Thrusday and Jason came over on new years eve. We made dinner and played Taboo for a few hours. To bad Miles didn't care that we went to bed at 2:30am and was wide awake at 7:30am. At least he keeps us on a schedule. I'll be easier when we have to go back to work.
