I just finished the new Harry Potter book. I had heard that it was going to be the darkest and most depressing of the 7 and it really is. I liked it but was very surprised at the ending. I knew more people were going to be killed but I totally didn't expect what happened.

UGH. We've had some really bad weather lately. There was was a thunder storm on Saturday and Harley's main transformer was struck by lightning. So it took until Sunday afternoon for RG&E to replace it and restore power to the building. Once I was able to get all the servers running again I find out that the lightning fried our internet connection. It cooked the tap where the cable comes into the building and melted the wires between the tap and the cable modem. So a few calls to Time Warner and many hours later we have internet access again. THEN...about 11am on today (Tuesday) I find out that my two domain controllers are refusing to replicate with each other. The bigger problem was that the keys used to authenticate computer accounts got all fucked up. So people could log in to one DC...but the other one wouldn't give them access to anything. So now that I have the DC's synced and replicating I'm sure all the clients that were using the fucked up DC are screwed up now also. I can't wait for those phone calls to start coming in. This is one of the biggest reasons why I like Linux better than Windows for a server operating system. Windows server are rather fragile when it comes to having the power fail or being unplugged. I know you should never just pull the power on any server, but the linux servers just came up with no problems. I've been trying to fix all my domain controllers and exchange server for 4 days.

Happy 4th of July! This past weekend Rachelle and I went to Buffalo for her cousin's wedding and a 4th party. I hate weddings. So I wasn't thrilled about having to go to this one but sometimes you just have to do it. The ceremony was outside in 90° sun. Everyone was standing in the shade of the only tree; it was pretty funny. The recessional music was the theme song to StarWars and they entered the reception hall to the tune of "Eye of the Tiger." It was interesting. The party was at Rachelle's aunt and uncle's house. I've been to about 5 of these parties, they're pretty fun. It was VERY hot though so I spend most of the day inside in the AC. We got home monday night around 7ish and cleaned the pool. It was looking pretty nasty.
