Happy Valentine's Day!!

Ah yes, the time of year when the price of flowers at Wegmans mysteriously goes from $9.99 to $49.99 and they start selling chocolate covered strawberries for $2 each.

This year we decided to make a nice dinner at home. The menu consisted of whole lobsters, twice-baked potatoes and chocolate soufflés with the melty stuff in the middle. It was mostly prepared (by Rachelle) the day before so we could just toss the taters and the soufflés in the oven when we want to eat.

We have a lobster pot somewhere but neither of us could lay hand on it, so I ended up having to borrow one from the cafeteria at work. I heard a rumor that the lobsters will scream when thrown in the boiling water and the ladies in the kitchen at work confirmed this for me when I went to pick up the pot. I figured this would be video-worthy, but they didn't make a peep! It was rather anti-climactic:

The lobsters were very tasty, but waaaay too much work. There was water and lobster gibs everywhere when we were done. I think I'd rather pay a little more next time and have Wegmans cook and dismantle the lobsters.

I wonder if the rubber bands affected the taste. I watched some other lobster cooking videos today and a bunch showed the chefs removing the bands...

You cooked live lobsters?!?! I prefer crab/crab legs unless red lobster is preparing it. I can eat it if I don't have to see it alive first.

Yes, cooking lobsters at home is too much work. Even crab legs are too much. They are better at a restaurant. I have found crab legs to be more tender than any lobster I've had.

Yeah...I think we're going to have to go to Red Lobster and see how it is there.

Yeah..just ask Robert next time about me and snow crab legs..he'll tell you some funny things. I've been to a few seafood restaurants (not just Red Lobster) that I've have had some good snow crab legs at. One being in Disney..Fultons Fish and the other in Lavellette at the Jersey shore called the Crab's Claw Inn. The one at the shore brought out a huge dish of them that I actually had to share with Robert because I couldn't eat them all. He'll tell you I don't share them on a normal basis!

Useless lobster cooking facts ( The lobster doesnt scream but rather the noise is caused by air exscaping from the shell kind of like a tea kettle. (I really cant back this up but ive heard it on the streets)

That's the same story I heard, which is why I took a video of it...but those little suckers didn't make a peep (screams or shellfarts)
