Wet Hot Dog

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

So this morning around 8am I was asleep but Rachelle heard some little girl yelling outside somewhere. It was like she was looking for someone and calling their name. A little later we both hear a splash. Then more splashing, like someone was swimming in the pool, or drowning. So we jump out bed, look out the window and see a dog flailing around in the pool. We throw some clothing on as we run outside to save this stupid animal, and find this little weiner dog paddling around like there's no tomorrow. Rachelle reaches in and grabs it. Once she puts it down on the ground it does that shaking thing soaking both of us and runs off across Harley's field to the little girl (and father) across the field who were obviously looking for the dog.

That was a really sucky way of waking up early on a Sunday morning. At least I didn't have to dive in to save it's stupid ass, the water was really cold.

Yes, we have a fence. But my wonderful husband didn't close either of the fences (the one to the backyard OR the one to the pool). As my mom said, we're lucky it wasn't the annoying little girl that was found doggy paddling in the pool. Although when I first heard her yelling for her dog at 8 a.m. I really considered throwing her in the pool. :)
